Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it inside while the oven heats. A hot baking surface helps create a crispier crust.
Prepare the dough: Place the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface. Stretch or roll it into a roughly 12-inch circle, depending on your preferred crust thickness. Transfer it to a parchment-lined baking sheet or prepared pizza pan.
Add the pesto: Spread the basil pesto evenly over the dough, leaving about a ½-inch border around the edges. Avoid adding too much pesto, as a thick layer can make the center of the pizza soggy.
Add the toppings: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella evenly over the pesto. Arrange the halved cherry tomatoes on top, followed by the grated Parmesan and freshly ground black pepper.
Brush the crust: Lightly brush the exposed edges of the dough with olive oil. This helps the crust develop a golden color while baking.
Bake the pizza: Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the mozzarella is melted and bubbling. Cooking time may vary depending on your oven and crust thickness.
Finish and serve: Remove the pizza from the oven and let it rest for a couple of minutes. Scatter fresh basil leaves over the top, slice, and serve while warm.
